My kids were sick since my son started fall sick in December, and the virus keeps passing around from one to another and now is back to my son again......
I had skipped a lesson last week and we had the first letter M lesson yesterday even though my son was unwell (what is he got to do with Chloe's lesson? Well, I couldn't concentrate when he was crying and the whole lesson was not an enjoyable one to me, but Chloe did enjoy it).
Ok, now back to the topic.
She sang the greeting song and we started the lesson.
Chloe was given a paper with letter M printed on it. She was asked to name the letter and say the sound. She then traced the letter:
We listened to the phonics sound and song of letter M that went:
"Mummy loves me, m, m, m.... m is the sound of M!"
(If you are not familiar with the phonics sound of A-Z, you may click here)
She picked the pictures of object spelled after M from an envelop, and pasted them on the paper. She was quite amused when she saw my picture, when I asked who was that she immediately said Mummy! You may use your own picture too :)
You may want to ask question like "M for?" and let the child answer it by referring to the pictures.
For pictures of objects from A - Z, click here.
She coloured the phonics sheet, 90% of it was coloured by me, she lost her interest in crayon, I probably got to let her try another material.
I prompted her to spell the word "monkey", she was pretty good on it now.
You may refer to this video of prompting done with her on "leaf".
The craft work for this lesson was a monkey headband. The materials were:
(The materials were provided by Jann, click here for the phonics course I attended)
She couldn't wait to put the headband on:
You may recite the rhyme we used for "lesson C for Crocodile".
We ended the lesson by watching the video of "Five Little Monkeys".
Chloe was jumping around like a monkey.....
Updated on 27 Jan 2012, Chloe singing "monkeys jumping on the bed" while she was under observatory ward in KKH:
