Phonics Set - Read with Phonics Songs and Rhymes

Some readers had asked me where did I get the phonics songs for my Fun Classes, this is the Phonics Set I have been using:

I got the set from the course I attended here.  I heard that Popular Bookshop is also selling.

The book comes with an audio CD, where there are songs and rhymes for each letter. The melody of the songs are similar, the child can pick them up easily. You may refer to my fun classes (first lesson of each letter) for sample pictures of the book.

Fun Class: T for Tortoise

We started the lesson after singing Greeting Song, this time round, she sang the song correctly as "Good Evening" instead of "Good Morning", ha!

We had a quick revision on the words and pictures that she learned in her first lesson on T, for which I showed her the pictures of objects spelled after letter T, and she would tell me the name of the objects.
The above is the picture of the letter T objects done in the previous lesson. If you're interested to download it, please refer to my post here.

After the quick revision, we listened to the phonics sound and song of letter T, which went like this:
Tickling tummies t, t, t,.....
t is the sound of T!

She then traced the upper and lower case of letter T on the worksheets I printed from Starfall.com.
She is very good on tracing the letters now, she can also write without the tracing dots but with mistakes sometimes.

I prompted her to spell the word "tortoise", she insisted to write the word by herself:

This is what she had written:
She had written the "S" as "3", a combination of upper and lower case, but I'm happy with her attempt.

For technique on "prompting", please refer here.

The craft work for this lesson was to paint and collage crepe papers on a cut out as follow:

Brush painting is always her favourite colouring material. See her cute tortoise done below:

Her happy face with her craft work:

There was an add on activity to this lesson, which was the Hare and Tortoise race and story but I couldn't find an empty tissue box for it, so we just played with the cut outs by pressing the back of the cut outs to make it move forward and see who could win the race. We had fun playing it and when I asked her who wins the game, Chloe told me tortoise as the rabbit was sleeping, haha!

If you are interested in making the "Hare and Tortoise" race, you may refer here:
"Colour cut-out rabbit and tortoise. Punch 2 holes at the shorter side of tissue box, insert one string over the 4 holds and leave the string dangling on the same side. Paste hare and tortoise on each strong. Child to pull the string and see both move."

There was no closing song for this lesson.

Chloe's N1 First Half Year Report

Chloe started her nursery at Carpe Diem since February this year. She received her first half year report on 30 June last Saturday. Her teachers presented her progress on Powerpoint and Word.

These are the slides presented by her English teacher Miss Mylene:

These are the slides presented by her Chinese teacher Miss Liao:

These are some pages from the progress report:

In summary, she received very good comments from both the teachers. The teachers commented she behaves herself in the class, never fight with her classmates over toys, can concentrate well during the lesson. She is advance in learning comparing to her classmates, she knows the alphabets and numbers very well and could even solve those puzzles and count and match games for K1 students. The teachers also mentioned that she shows interest in music and action songs, she can pick up the songs  her teacher taught her very fast.
I'm happy that she is doing well in the school, and better than what we have expected from her. I shall monitor her progress and groom her according to her interest, currently she is learning Hip Hop dance in Taneo Dance Studio.

Fun Class: T for Tiger

It has been almost a year that she started the fun classes, she is very familiar with the letters and their sounds now. The purpose of these fun classes is more for her fun rather than learning alphabets, the fun classes seem to be too easy for her.

This is the first lesson of letter T, she learned T for Tiger.

She sang the Greeting Song to start the lesson.

She traced the upper and lower case of letter T, which I printed on an A4 paper.

We listened to the phonics sound and song of letter T, which went like this:
Tickling tummies t, t, t,.....
t is the sound of T!

She took out the pictures of objects spelled after letter T from an envelop, she would tell me the name of the objects before pasting them on the letter T paper.

She then label the pictures with the words.

Her completed pictures of T:

For pictures of the letters, you may get it here.

She coloured the phonics sheet:
Her nursery teachers commented she is very good in colouring, but I still find her colouring terrible, ha!

I prompted her to spell the word "Tiger", as her younger brother was playing with the writing board, I prompted her using a paper.
For technique on prompting, you may see here.

The craft for this lesson was a Tiger mask, I let her to use the water colour which is her favourite colouring material.

This is her completed mask:

I showed her the video of "Two Little Tigers" (a Chinese song "Liang Zhi Lao Hu") to end the lesson.

The lesson plan:
